Participants on the ornamental field trip will visit a production nursery and two of the top attractions in San Antonio. Mortellaro’s Nursery, a wholesale nursery specializing in woody and native ornamental production, will be the first stop. The next stop will be the San Antonio Botanical Garden. This 38-acre garden serves as a museum of plants, as well as a research and conservation facility that provides a beautiful and engaging environment. From the Rose Garden, to the tropical selections in the exhibit rooms of the Conservatory, to the Texas Native Trail, there’s always something new to see at this Texas-style Botanical Garden. The last stop on the tour will be the San Antonio Zoo. The Zoo is a 56-acre compound that represents 750 species. There will be opportunities to interact with the horticultural department at the zoo to learn about their landscaping practices and to see the challenges they face with the diverse landscapes they provide for the animals and the tourists that visit every day. Participants will also be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the various exhibits and animals the zoo has to offer (i.e. hippos, giraffes, monkeys, lions, amphibians, birds).Fee includes transportation, lunch and all admissions. Pre-registration required.
