​​Office of Private Sector Relations (OPSR) Industry Tour​​

June 6 - 8 | Tour begins and ends in Sacramento, CA


​About the Tour

The OPSR Industry Tour is open to graduate students and post-docs interested in learning how organizations in the private sector and not-for-profit sector operate, as well as the various types of career opportunities available to those seeking employment with a plant pathology background. Topics will cover biotechnology, crop protection, field sciences, discovery research, seed health, and plant health regulations among others.​ The tour includes three full days visiting sites while covering a broad range of activities that highlight specific roles in the aforementioned segments to help students better understand the expectations around the career opportunities available in industry and not-for-profit. Participants will meet agriculture business professionals at each of the following sites:

  • ​Bayer CropScience
  • Corteva Agriscience
  • Driscoll's 
  • Pivot Bio
  • California Department of Pesticide Regulation
  • Michael David Winery

Transportation: 

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the tour start site, their transportation back home, their hotel accommodations the night before the tour begins,​ as well as the last night of the tour (if necessary). OPSR will provide transportation, hotel accommodations* (double occupancy), and meals during the tour (June 6 - 8).
*hotel accommodations will be covered by OPSR for the nights of June 6 and 7.​
