The following information is provided to APS Committees to help you get oriented with APS ways of working and the tools provided to support your leadership role within APS.

Committee Vice Chair/Chair Orientation

Councilors-at-Large Office Hour Sessions

The Councilors-at-Large (CALs) Office Hours are virtual sessions held 2-3 times a year that provide an opportunity to share ideas and discuss a given topic with other APS Coordinating Committees and the Councilors-at-Large.

Committee Connections

Virtual meetings held twice a year for members to learn and explore APS committee volunteer activities.

Annual Reports to Council

Timeline

• June/July: APS staff sends reminders to committees to submit their annual report of activities.
• August 31: Deadline for APS committees to submit their annual report of activities to APS Council. NOTE failure to submit a report of activities for two consecutive years may be considered for deactivation by APS Council.
• September: Councilors-at-Large (CALs) review reports and prepare a summary report to present to Council, including any actions/requests to Council. CALs with support from APS staff provide immediate answers to any procedural questions or staff related support requests.
• October: CALs present the committee summary report to APS Council. Following the meeting, CALs will respond back to committees with any Council actions/requests. NOTE any funding requests related to annual meeting may be delayed until information is available.
• November/December: Annual Report Summary available on APS website.

• Recognize Excellence

  APS regularly honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the science of plant pathology. These awards are given annually and presented at the APS Annual Meeting. APS Members are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the various APS Awards and nominate someone whom you feel deserves special recognition.
