​​APS ​Fellows

​APS bestows the honor of Fellow to APS members in recognition of distinguished contributions to the profession of plant pathology in one or more of the following areas: original research, teaching, administration, professional and public service, and extension and outreach. The number of Fellows inducted is limited to approximately 0.25% of the total APS membership annually.​​

Eligibility and Nomination Requirements

  • Membership in APS is required
    • Nominees must hold current status as APS Professional Members in good standing and must have maintained such membership for a minimum of three consecutive years prior to nomination. Emeritus individuals members are eligible provided they were Professional Members in good standing for the three years immediately preceding their retirement. 
  • ​Nomination statements must clearly indicate which of these major categories serve(s) as the basis for the nomination: 
    • Original research
    • Teaching
    • Administration
    • Professional and public service
    • Extension and outreach ​
  • A period of five years should elapse between recognition as a Fellow and nomination for another APS honorary award.
    • Fellows being nominated for another APS honorary award must specify in the nomination how the contributions in the current nomination differ from those on which the original Fellow nomination was based.

Award Nomination Guidelines​​​​​

Honor Bestowed

Recipients receive a duly inscribed framed certificate presented to them during the award ceremony at the APS Annual Meeting. ​​
