Submit Abstract
The
2026 SD-APS meeting program will consist of oral and poster
presentations presented in person. Abstracts must be submitted online
(submission link below) by December 17, 2025. Please be sure to indicate
(1) if you want to have your abstract published, (2) if you wish to
give a poster or oral presentation, and (3) if you wish to participate
in the Graduate Student Research Award Competition or the Graduate
Student Poster Competition (see notes below). Due to time limitations
within the overall program, the number of oral presentations in the
Graduate Student Research Competition and the Oral Technical Session
will be limited. Presenters will be assigned available spots in these
sessions based on the order of submission (and completed requirements
for the Graduate Student Research Award Competition);
once spots for oral presentations are filled, remaining abstracts
requested for oral presentations will be shifted to a poster
presentation. All abstracts must be reviewed by all authors AND
peer-reviewed by two additional people. You will have to certify on the
abstract submission form that all authors and two additional people have
reviewed your abstract. Presenting
authors MUST register for the meeting by January 9, 2026, to prevent
having their abstracts withdrawn from the program. Meeting
participants submitting abstracts will be notified by February 9, 2026,
of the status of their abstract in the meeting program.
The
SD-APS meeting is an excellent opportunity for graduate students to
obtain presentation experience at a professional meeting. Students who
do not wish to participate in the Graduate Student Research Award
Competition or who are not able to be included in the Graduate Student
Research Award Competition may choose to present their abstract as a
non-competitive oral presentation, non-competitive poster presentation,
or competitive poster presentation (Graduate Student Poster Competition).
Non-student members may also submit abstracts for inclusion in the oral
technical session or the poster presentations. Additional requirements
for the Graduate Student Research Award Competition and the Graduate Student Poster Competition are listed on the respective webpages.
Abstract
payments: An abstract submission fee ($55) is required for ALL
abstracts submitted for presentation (oral or poster) at the 2026 SD-APS
Meeting. You must indicate if you want your abstract published or not
published on the abstract submission form. Abstract submission fees must
be paid at the time of abstract submission. There are no refunds for
withdrawn abstracts.
Abstract acceptance and submission: Criteria for abstract acceptance and submission will be based on the
SD-APS abstract guidelines.
Oral
presentation guidelines: Fifteen minutes will be allowed for each oral
presentation in the Graduate Student Research Award Competition and
between 12 to 15 minutes will be allowed for each oral presentation in
the Oral Technical Sessions. (Presentation times for the Oral Technical
Session will depend on the number of abstracts received.) There
are 25 slots available for presentations in the Graduate Student
Research Award Competition and approximately 12-15 slots available for
presentations in the Oral Technical Session. Notification will be emailed to all presenting authors by February 9, 2026.
Poster
presentation guidelines: Posters will follow standard APS guidelines.
Posters should be displayed by 8:00 AM ET on March 9, 2026, and
should remain available for viewing until 5:00 PM ET on March 10, 2026.
