Communities of Interest & Coordinating Committees
Subject Matter Expertise Committees has transitioned into Communities of Interest & Coordinating Committees.
- Community of Interest (CI) is a network of APS members focused on a specific area within phytopathology, aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. Members work together to address trends, challenges, and drive innovation. Participation is open to all APS members.
- Coordinating Committee (CC) will lead each Community of Interest (CI) to set goals, organize activities, and ensure alignment with APS’s mission and goals. CC will promote engagement, monitor field development, and adapt based on member feedback to keep the CI active and impactful.

Annual Report of Activity to Council
APS Council annually reviews all APS volunteer led activities and engagement to ensure the group's activity is in alignment with the overall APS mission and strategic goals. Leadership from each group are required to submit an annual report to Council by August 31.

Timeline
- June/July: APS staff sends reminders to committees to submit their annual report of activities.
- August 31: Deadline for APS committees to submit their annual report of activities to APS Council. NOTE failure to submit a report of activities for two consecutive years may be considered for deactivation by APS Council.
- September: Councilors-at-Large (CALs) review reports and prepare a summary report to present to Council, including any actions/requests to Council. CALs with support from APS staff provide immediate answers to any procedural questions or staff related support requests.
- October: CALs present the committee summary report to APS Council. Following the meeting, CALs will respond back to committees with any Council actions/requests. NOTE any funding requests related to annual meeting may be delayed until information is available.
- November/December: Annual Report Summary available on APS website.
