​Jude Wilson - Opening General Session Keynote 

Talk Title: The surprising scie​nce of mushrooms: my journey into this dark but wonderful world ​


Bio: Dr. Jude Wilson is the Chief Scientific Officer at MBio, a fungal biotechnology company based in the border region of Ireland. Twenty years ago, she wanted to save the 3rd world from parasitic disease after being inspired by a professor of Tropical Medicine. Now, after several moves between academia (including a stint as a postdoc in the US) and industry, she leads a team of over 50 industrial scientists focused on improving the quality and nutritional benefits of the white button mushroom.  In this presentation, Jude will highlight the key decisions and moves that lead to her attempt to save the world with mushrooms.​ 


Julie Borlaug - Closing General Session Keynote 

Talk Title: Disruptive Innovations and the Communications Challenge 


Bio: Julie Borlaug brings knowledge of external partnerships, communications, and corporate relations, following in the footsteps of Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, her grandfather, to expand his mission to feed the world’s hungry. Prior joining Inari, Julie served as Associate Director of External Relations at the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture. She also handled strategic initiatives for corporate relations within AgriLife Research at Texas A&M. Julie serves on several boards and advisory councils including the Council for Agricultural Science & Technology (CAST), Seed World Editorial Board, Community for Zero Hunger and Texas A&M Dallas Urban Agriculture Center Advisory Board. Julie received her MBA from the University of Dallas.
