Private Sector Relations

Commi​ttee Roster​​ Private Sector Relations Activities​

Purpose​

  • Develop a visionary dialog for the long-term health ​of APS and industry interactions.​

  • Optimize interactions between APS and its membership on matters pertaining to the diverse industries related to plant disease management.

  • Strengthen advocacy for science-based public policy.

Organizational Structure

  • ​Chair and when applicable a ​​Chair-elect

  • Immediate Past Chair

  • Current Chair from the APS Industry Committee​

  • Up to 9​ voting members, representing the diverse plant management industries and/or subject matter experts

  • Assigned Councilor-at-Large serving a 3 -year term (non-voting)

  • APS Staff liaison (non-voting)

Terms​

  • Chair serves a three-year term and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. 

  • Chair-elect serves a one year term before assuming the Director role. The Director-elect is appointed by Council, typically from a call for volunteers and/or nominees submitted from the group itself or the APS Nominations Committee.

  • Immediate Past Chair serves a one year term immediately following their director term.

  • Current APS Industry Committee Chair serves a one year term. ​

  • Voting members serve staggered 3-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. New members are elected by a majority of the current voting members.

Chair General Responsibilities

  • Develop priority issues of mutual benefit or concern for APS and the diverse industries associated with managing plant diseases.

  • Reports to APS Council meeting as requested. 

  • Submits an annual report of activities to APS Council and will coordinate and submit additional reports as received from any subcommittees.

  • May appoint or disband subcommittees as needed to facilitate execution of tasks. 

Member General Responsibilities

  • ​​Assist APS Staff with regular review of the Sustaining Associates program, to ensure APS is optimizing the benefits for the Society and Sustaining Associates members. 

  • Interact with leadership from APS groups on public outreach, public policy, APS Foundation, and provide a forum for discussion of issues that impact commercial management of plant diseases. 

  • Be proactive in bringing issues to the attention of the group and in pursuing opportunities to increase the positive interactions between APS members and the diverse Industries that manage plant diseases.
