Meet Your 2025 Candidates!
Effective Council members are innovative thinkers, trusted ambassadors, and sound decision makers. Council's primary role is to set the Society's direction, ensure necessary resources, and provide financial oversight. One individual will be elected to each position to serve on APS Council. Election results will be announced to the membership following the close of the election. Those elected will assume their duties at the close of Plant Health 2025.
Vice President (one elected)
The position of Vice President (VP) is the first of a 4-year ascension through the presidential lineage moving to President Elect in the second year, President the third, and Immediate Past President the fourth year. The responsibility of the presidential lineage require individuals with proven leadership skills, including good communication, strategic thinking, delegation, and good people skills. During this 4-year presidential term, the position is expected to provide vision and leadership to the society. Specifically they will work with APS Council and society's leadership, along with APS staff to advance the society’s mission, expand membership, promote diversity at all levels, respond to the needs of the society, encourage communication and awareness of activities across the organization, and set the strategic priorities for the society and guide its growth.

Councilors-at-Large (one elected)
Councilors-at-Large (CALs) serve a 3-year term on APS Council. The role of the CALs is to serve as a conduit between committees and APS Council. Each CAL serves as a liaison and resource to their designated committees and provide support for committee ideas, help committees increase year-round activities, and attend committee meetings as available.
