Inheritance of Resistance to Pythium myriotylum Hypocotyl Rot in Phaseolus vulgaris L.. R. D. Reeleder, Research Assistant, University of Wisconsin, Madison 53706. D. J. Hagedorn, Professor of Plant Pathology, University of Wisconsin, Madison 53706. Plant Dis. 65:427-429. Copyright 1981 American Phytopathological Society. DOI: 10.1094/PD-65-427.

Resistance to Pythium myriotylum hypocotyl rot was found in several lines of Phaseolus vulgaris, including PI 203958 (N203), State Half Runner, Ore. 70-169-1 M, and Wis. (RRR) 46. Broad sense heritability values, as determined from crosses between PI 203958 and the susceptible cultivars Cascade and Tenderwhite, were 0.643 and 0.651, respectively. The value of the cross Wis. (RRR) 46 × Tenderwhite was 0.290. Distribution of the F2 populations appeared to be normal for all crosses.
