Reactions of Three Alfalfa Cultivars to Several Species of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes. G. S. Santo, Assistant Plant Pathologist-Nematologist, Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center, Prosser, WA 99350. D. W. Evans, Agronomist, and D. B. Bower, Agricultural Research Technologist III, Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center, Prosser, WA 99350. Plant Dis. 64:404-405. Copyright 1980 American Phytopathological Society. DOI: 10.1094/PD-64-404.

Ditylenchus dipsaci reduced growth of all alfalfa cultivars tested, except Washoe. Pratylenchus penetrans reduced growth of Washoe and Vernal but not of Thor. Meloidogyne hapla reduced the top growth of Thor but not growth of roots and crown. The opposite was true with Washoe. M. hapla did not affect Vernal. P. neglectus, Paratylenchus hamatus, and Macroposthonia xenoplax did not affect final plant growth of the cultivars tested.
