Muchovej, Graduate Student, Departamento de Solos; O. D. Dhingra, Visiting Professor, and L. A. Maffia, Assistant Professor, Departamento de Fitopatologia, Universidade, Federal de Viçosa, Viçosa, 36570, MG., Brazil. Plant Dis. 64:1088-1089. Copyright 1980 American Phytopathological Society. DOI: 10.1094/PD-64-1088.

Application of CaSO4, CaCO3, and CA(OH)2 significantly reduced seedling anthracnose of soybeans in the greenhouse. As little as 200 µg/g of Ca (1 meq of Ca/100 g soil) was effective. Reduction in disease was similar in seedlings grown in calcium-amended hydroponic solutions. In both hydroponic and greenhouse studies, tissue calcium increased with increased calcium applied.
