Resistance of Libocedrus decurrens to Phoradendron bolleanum subspecies pauciflorum. L. S. Felix, Former Research Assistant, Department of Plant Pathology, University of California, Berkeley 94720; Phytopathology 61:875-876. DOI: 10.1094/Phyto-61-875.

The true mistletoe Phoradendron bolleanum subsp. pauciflorum found on white fir Abies concolor of the Sierra Nevada has not been reported on incensecedar Libocedrus decurrens, even though both conifers are found in the same stands. Possible explanations for this apparent resistance of incensecedar were determined by inoculation studies. Resistance mechanisms included wash-off, bark exfoliation, and the formation of a cork barrier in response to penetration.
