Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions

Phytopathology
Ojiambo et al. review the current understanding of the biology of Aspergillus flavus, aflatoxin production, and control strategies, with a particular focus on biological control and future host-resistance approaches. Open access for a limited time.
Plant Diseases
Plant Disease Now Being Indexed by MEDLINE
Beginning with the September 2018 issue, the feature articles and research papers in Plant Disease will be indexed by MEDLINE and available in PubMed Central. MEDLINE is the primary online bibliographic citation database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s PubMed system and provides access to biomedical and life sciences journals to users worldwide.

Chris Wallis Named APS Outstanding Volunteer
The recipient of the 2018 APS Outstanding Volunteer Award is Chris Wallis, USDA–ARS. Chris was instrumental in conceiving of, organizing, and implementing the Career Advancement and Development Resource initiative, now known as the Professional Development Center. His work is an impressive example of the dedication many members offer APS!
APS Foundation Awards
Application periods for several APS Foundation awards are open until December 1. Funding is available for international institutions, graduate student travel in the United States and South America, educational outreach and exploration, and student research.
Norman Borlaug
The Borlaug's Army Initiative offers a free, 1-year undergraduate membership in APS to any undergraduate enrolled in an internship program or REU or participating in work experience anywhere in the world. Get involved and learn more!
Office of International Programs
 
A free, 2-year trial APS membership is available for new members from and working in countries with developing economies! A list of qualifying countries and application information is available online. Encourage your qualified colleagues to apply by September 25!
APS Southern Division
The 2019 APS Southern Division Meeting will be February 7–9, 2019, at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center Gainesville. Watch the division website for more details!
The APS Public Policy Board was recently notified of a webinar on the legal guidelines regarding scientists' political and lobbying activities. The webinar will be held October 4 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
