2018 Potomac Division Meeting

The main theme of this year's APS Potomac Division meeting is ‘Healthy Plants Healthy People’ that aligns with the work every plant pathologist does on a regular basis.  Our Keynote Speaker is Dr. Mary Palm who is the APS President. Her talk will be "What does the Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity Mean for You?" The first of our three research symposia will discuss emerging plant diseases in the Mid-Atlantic and their management with the promise to represent a true cross-section of basic and applied plant pathology followed by the afternoon student oral paper competition. The second symposium will bring the latest advanced technologies on plant pathogen detection. Our last of three symposia will focus on disease etiology, ecology and epidemiology. We have also reserved space for a limited number of contributed paper sessions throughout the meeting for those who like to present their research.  Our Banquet Speaker on Thursday, March 22nd will present science to entertain all of us! This year’s banquet speaker will be Robert McDuffie from Virginia Tech who will be giving a nice overview of his world travels titled “Plants in Paradise:  garden ideas from across the globe!”
