SPECIAL SESSION: Replicability in Plant Pathology: Do we have a problem? - Panel Discussion

Experimental design and strategies to increase replicability in Plant Pathology
Alissa Kriss - Syngenta.

We all desire to conduct studies which allow us to make the right conclusions, and allow others to replicate our results. But with limitations of time, money, space, and capabilities, we need to reconcile practical realities against strategies to increase our statistical power and reduce incorrect conclusions being made. As we begin planning new studies, how do we ensure we are doing the right things? A few of the strategies for increasing power include using a different experimental design, reducing measurement variability or changing how we take measurements, and better understanding inherent variability in our trial space. With detailed planning prior to study implementation, we can ensure our studies are higher powered and less prone to erroneous conclusions.
