PLANT HEALTH 2021 SUBMISSIONS

Submissions have now closed for Plant Health 2021 Special Sessions and Workshops.

Given the success of Plant Health 2020 Online, and the current global pandemic, APS is preparing for a hybrid virtual/in-person event for 2021.

It is very important to keep the hybrid format in mind when submitting your proposal for a special session and workshop. Virtual learning will be a key factor in these programs, the extent to which is still in the planning stages by the Annual Meeting Board.

All field trips will be required to follow social distancing practices/guidelines, which will be based on CDC
recommendations and the laws governing both the city of Memphis and destination of the field trip. Adhering
to these guidelines will be the responsibility of the organizer. We encourage outside activities where possible.
APS reserves the right to limit the number of participants to allow for the safe gathering of individuals. More
information will be shared with field trip organizers no later than February 1, 2021. Please also consider how social distancing may affect the cost of your workshop and ticket price. For example, capacities will be limited on buses to maintain social distancing. An alternative option in this example would be to select a destination that can be easily walked to on foot from the meeting location. *NOTE: Your field trip submission may be accepted initially and then cancelled as we near the meeting dates based on the most recent federal and local guidelines.”

Important Acceptance Details

All submissions are reviewed by the Annual Meeting Board for acceptance into the program. Only a fraction of those proposals submitted are ultimately accepted to the program. For acceptance, the AMB looks for proposals with thorough descriptions, clear learning objectives and a well-thought-out plan for presentations. Creativity in session format is also given higher consideration, especially in the world of virtual learning.

It is also important that your subject matter is timely and will engage attendees. The theme of the 2021 meeting is “Seismic Shifts in Disease Risk." We ask in the submission form how your proposal supports this theme. The theme is described here.
