Course Description
This course will examine current and best practices in the development and validation of robust seed health assays. Participants will come away with a solid foundation and practical tools to apply to their own needs in research, industry, and regulatory contexts. Those who serve on editorial boards or review journal manuscripts on plant pathology topics will also find this course provides valuable perspective.
Ten live or recorded lessons will cover the following:

Critical components and criteria for developing a new method.

Similarities and differences for method validation among agencies: ISTA, ISHI/ISF, & National Seed Health System.

Development & validation of different types of methods featuring real-world case studies & examples.

Publishing seed health assays: tips for publishers, editors, and reviewers.

Is this Course Right for Me?
We recommend that participants meet one of the following criteria:
- Have a preexisting foundation of knowledge of Seed Pathology and testing methodology
- Have previously completed the
APS Seed Pathology Fundamentals course (available now on-demand)
This course will be valuable for those that
- Conduct research in plant pathology.
- Work in industry and/or trade of seeds.
- Serve on journal editorial boards or as an ad hoc reviewer for journal manuscripts on plant pathology topics.
- Work for or are involved with regulatory agencies developing or enforcing policies associated with plants and seed trade.

- Supplemental resources so you can explore the topics in more depth.
- A private discussion forum on the APS Community. You are encouraged to ask questions, share resources and discuss course topics outside of live sessions.
