The Why and How of Advancing
Women in Agricultural Sciences

In the last decade, the number of women receiving PhD’s in agricultural sciences has been slowly approaching parity with the number of men, but this parity vanishes when looking at the percentage of women in tenure track faculty. In this presentation, I examine the data and propose changes to the mentorship, advising, and tenure processes in order to better serve women in the agricultural sciences. By creating flexible timelines and alternative paths, we will be able to develop a more successful and productive agricultural workforce that fits the needs of contemporary society into the next generation.
