Oleocellosis is a skin injury caused by rupture of the oil glands. Lemons, limes, and navel oranges are more likely than other fruits to express this phenomenon. Fog, high humidity, and rain can make the skin more turgid, increasing the chance that the glands will rupture, especially during harvest.
