Alternaria leaf spot is a common disease in guar-growing areas of western India and Pakistan. The most prominent symptoms are round to irregular spots varying from 2 to 10 mm in diameter on leaf lamina. Infection starts as water-soaked lesions on the leaf blades. As they mature, the lesions turn grayish to dark brown with concentric zonations demarcated with light brown lines. In severe infections, several spots merge and give the leaves a blighted look, resulting in defoliation and considerable loss in seed yield.
