SLCV belongs to the genus Begomovirus in the family Geminiviridae. It is transmitted by a whitefly and infects economic crops in the Cucurbitaceae family. Characteristic symptoms include leaf curling, twisting, malformation, yellowing, and stunting. The disease is managed mainly by targeting its vector.
