Itersonilia pastinacae (Channon) on parsnip leaves.
The disease is characterized by the leaf spot phase and canker of the root phase. Cankers commonly occur on the crown or shoulder of the root but may also be found on the shank. Affected tissue is dark brown or black, often with a purplish tinge. A fungicide spray on the leaf phase can help to control disease development on the roots.
