A Covington, USDA Forest Service, State and Private Forestry, Forest Pest Management, Pineville, LA 71360. Plant Disease 69:268, 1985. Accepted for publication 11 September 1984. A roadside survey of rural and community elm trees in 26 parishes in northern Louisiana was conducted during June 1983 and 1984.  The 13 northernmost parishes were surveyed in 1983, and parishes farther south were surveyed in 1984.  Elm branches with chlorotic, wilting leaves were sampled for laboratory analysis.  Ceratosystis ulmi (Buism.) C. Mor. was isolated from 14 single trees—American (Ulmus americana L.), slippery (U. rubra Muhl.), winged (U. alata Michx.), and cedar (U. crassifolia Nutt.) elm—in eight parishes (Bossier, Caddo, Concordia, East Carroll, Richland, Madison, Webster, and West Carroll).  This is the first report of Dutch elm disease in Louisiana.
