Pascual, Department of Plant Protection, Centro de Investigaci?n y Tecnologia - Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agrarias, Madrid, Spain; A. De Cal, and P. Melgarejo. Department of Plant Protection, Centro de Investigaci?n y Tecnologia - Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agrarias, Madrid, Spain. Phytopathology 80:494-496. Accepted for publication 9 November 1989. Copyright 1990 The American Phytopathological Society. DOI: 10.1094/Phyto-80-494.

Spore production in four isolates of Monilinia laxa was greater when grown on potato-dextrose agar (PDA) amended with acetone (0.5 and 1% v/v) than when grown on nonamended PDA or agar amended with 50 ?g/ml indolyl-3 acetic acid. The size of the fungal colony decreased as the acetone concentration increased from 0.5 to 5%, v/v, in the PDA. Sizes, viability, and aggressiveness of spores produced on PDA amended with 0.5%, v/v, acetone were not altered.
