Severe stalk lodging of severly gray leaf spot blighted corn hybrid. The early loss of photosynthetic leaf area predisposes hybrids to stalk lodging as the carbohydrate within the stalk is translocated to the developing ear. This process causes the premature death of stalks and leads to lodging.
