Feature Story November 2004 Art in Phytopathology Brooke Edmunds North Carolina State University My art presentation is represented by this photo of Haven Holmes (my advisor Gerald Holmes's daughter) wearing a "healthy" pumpkin hat. I love knitting small projects, and hats are so much fun. In addition to the "healthy" pumpkin, I made additional hats with the fruit symptoms of Septoria leaf spot and another with Zucchini mosaic virus. I taught myself to knit about 2 years ago as stress relief while getting my MS in plant pathology at Iowa State University. Currently, I am in my first year as a Ph.D. student at North Carolina State University working with Dr. Gerald Holmes to identify factors associated with the development of Rhizopus soft rot on sweet potatoes and investigating alternative management strategies.
