Poster Abstract Submission Guidelines
Poster Fee
- A display fee of $45 must be paid for each poster that is presented.
- Payment can be made via the meeting registration form or online registration.
- Payment must be received before poster abstract submission form will be accepted.
Abstract Submission
- The poster abstract submission form will be available starting October 1. Abstracts must be submitted no later than October 31. Posters will not be accepted without an abstract.
- Abstracts must be submitted via an online abstract form for each poster at: https://www.multisoftevents.com/NSRS09/. A Confirmation E-mail will be sent from themultisoftgroup.com once the abstract has been successfully submitted where you can go back to make edits up until the close date of October 31, 2009. Check regular and junk e-mail files incase the e-mail is delivered there.
- IMPORTANT: This new abstract process requires Login by Username and Password. Login options listed below:
APS MEMBERS:
Current members of APS, must LOGIN using your username/password when submitting a poster abstract. Forgot your password, want to reset? Go to “FOROGT YOUR PASSWORD” link on login page.
- APS INTERACTIVE CUSTOMERS:
If you are a previous customer of APS Interactive (registered online or submitted an abstract for a previous meeting), LOGIN with your current username and password. Forgot your password, want to reset? Go to “FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD” link on login page.
- NEW USERS:
New to the APS Meeting’s and do not have a username/password, you must first ‘Create a New Account’ per link on login page and sign up prior to submitting a poster abstract for the meeting. Then return and LOGIN.
- Proof of your payment for the poster is required on the form, simply use the order ID number provided on the e-mail confirmation or invoice copy that was sent to you to confirm your registration.
- Abstracts are limited to a 250 word maximum. The new system provides formatting tools and holds formatting when copy is cut and pasted from a word processing program into the web form.
- On the submission form type the presenter’s name in ALL CAPS. If there are two or more authors from different affiliations, follow each name with a number within parentheses to key a particular author to their affiliation. For example; I.M. DEWRIGHT (1) and E. Z. Doesit (2).
- Precede the affiliation(s) with a number with parentheses to key a particular affiliation to the corresponding author. For example; (1) U.S. Grain Marketing Research Center, Manhattan, KS, U.S.A., and (2) University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN, U.S.A.
Display Facilities
- One panel is available for display of each poster. To fit within the poster frame, posters must not exceed 46 inches (116 cm) wide by 45 inches (114 cm) high.
- A limited supply of Velcro for attaching the poster display to the fabric panel will be supplied by APS.
- Electrical outlets will not be provided in the poster presentation area.
Preparation of a Poster
- The official language for the posters is English.
- You may prepare handouts for distribution at the meeting with your poster. The handouts should be directly related to the topic of the poster and must not contain any advertising.
- No commercial activities or any advertising may be displayed on the posters. Not complying with this rule will result in the poster being removed.
Poster Set-up/Viewing
- Poster set-up will be available from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9.
- Viewing will be available throughout the meeting, with specific times available during the lunch and the reception.
- Authors are asked to be present at their posters following lunch on Thursday, December 10 from 1 to 2:30 pm
- Posters may be removed 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10.
Criteria of Acceptance
Posters are open to anyone and there is no limit to the number of poster submissions. Remember to fully edit and proof your abstract before submitting. Early submissions are encouraged to avoid delays on the last day.
- Abstracts must report results of original research or other activity of significant merit that relates to soybean rust.
- Abstracts must include the following elements: justification, objectives, methods, results, and significance of the research to the science of plant pathology.
- Abstracts must not be simply a review or progress report, but must contain useful and new information. Abstracts must not include references or footnotes.
- Abstracts must be in final form with no grammatical, typographical, or factual errors.
- No commercial activities or any advertising may be displayed on the posters. Not complying with this rule will result in the poster being removed.
- No abstract that has been presented or is intended to be presented at another meeting shall be submitted for consideration.
- Publication of tables, charts, and graphs projected onto screens or posted at the annual meeting by anyone other than an author or presenter is prohibited unless a release has been requested and received in writing from an author or presenter.
Online Poster Proceedings
All poster presenters are invited to submit their presentation files for inclusion in the meeting proceedings online website. The content will be posted on the Plant Management Network's Soybean Rust Info Center after the meeting.
