APSnet Image of the Week
Fruit rot of tomato caused by Rhizoctonia solani. This pathogen causes various diseases, including damping-off, root rot, basal stem rot, aboveground stem canker, and fruit rot. Fruit rot is a serious problem in warm, wet areas of the world and is a limiting factor in the production of ground-grown processing tomatoes in the southern United States.
