The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has confirmed Plum Pox Virus in New York and Michigan and has triggered a Declaration of Extraordinary Emergency by USDA. The eradication program will involve removal of all infected and host trees within 500 meters, conducting delimiting and detection surveys to ensure no additional infestations, and establishing appropriate safeguards to ensure additional spread of plum pox virus does not occur. This declaration is effective May 18, 2007. See the May 23, 2007 Federal Register. http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01jan20071800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2007/E7-10044.htm

EPA has announced the availability of the Reregistration Eligibility Decision (RED); the EPA has determined that the data base to support reregistration is substantially complete and that products containing inorganic sulfites will be eligible for reregistration, provided the risks are mitigated either in the manner described in the RED or by another means that achieves equivalent risk reduction.
