USDA Final Rule regarding areas under restriction for Karnal bunt; EPA Region Four seeks research grants for use of fewer pesticides; USDA seeks public comments on “CSREES Proposal Review Process”

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services has issued a Final Rule regarding areas under restriction for Karnal bunt. This rule adds regulated areas to prevent the spread of Karnal bunt, and relieves restrictions on certain areas where they are no longer necessary. EPA Region Four seeks research grant applications to help implement the FQPA and to support efforts by the agricultural community to transition to using less pesticides and lower risk pesticides in food production. Applications are due by September 19, 2005.
