APS 2005 Annual Meeting Highlights

A big Texas-sized Thank You to the 1,300+ attendees and exhibitors who attended the 2005 APS Annual Meeting, July 30–August 3, 2005, in Austin, TX!

Sunday kicked-off with an exceptional Plenary Session focusing on the future of plant pathology. After a day of learning about the latest research in the industry, attendees and exhibitors took advantage of networking at the Welcome Reception, held for the first time within the exhibit and poster hall. Also for the first time, OIP held a Silent Auction featuring a sampling of amazing cultural items from around the globe. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were packed full of exciting technical and special sessions. Sessions in 2005 covered everything from aquatic plant pathology to virus genetics. Monday featured a news conference on “Emerging Plant Diseases,” which received coverage on local news stations and in national publications. On Tuesday evening attendees shared in honoring the society’s most prestigious members during the Awards & Honors Ceremony, then they kicked-up their heels at the Lone Star Jamboree to the music of the Mark Winston Kirk Band, while enjoying cocktails and a fabulous buffet!

Take a moment to relive the memories of Austin, captured by our photographer, on pages 154-155. If you missed the 2005 Annual Meeting, take a look at some of the fun events APS planned in 2005 and mark your calendar today for 2006!
