Higher education leaders from fifteen countries met in Germany last week for the Sixth Annual Strategic Leaders Global Summit, an event designed to promote international best practices on current issues associated with graduate education. The Summit, “From Brain Drain to Brain Circulation: Graduate Education for Global Career Pathways,” was jointly hosted by the U.S.-based Council of Graduate Schools and the Technische Universität München.
Summit participants developed a consensus statement, “Principles for Supporting Global Careers in Graduate Education,” which will provide international guidelines for universities and graduate schools. The eleven Principles were designed to ensure that graduate students are prepared to enter a rapidly globalizing economy and research enterprise.
