OPRO's mission is to educate the public and APS members on matters related to plant health, plant diseases, and associated microorganisms, increase media coverage of plant health issues in order to demonstrate the value of plant pathology to society, promote interactions with other scientific and professional organizations, and assist the Public Policy Board in strengthening advocacy for science-based public policy. The Office of Public Relations and Outreach (OPRO) is seeking a graduate student member to serve on the board for a one-year term which starts at the 2015 Annual meeting in Pasadena, CA. The student will gain valuable experience as a full voting and participating member. It is important the student member attend the 2015 APS Annual Meeting and the OPRO “mid-year” meeting typically held for two days in December at APS headquarters in MN (all travel expenses for the “mid-year” meeting are paid for by OPRO).

The Office of Public Relations and Outreach (OPRO) is seeking an APS member affiliated with a government agency (local, state, federal, or international) to join the OPRO Board. If you are interested in fostering greater public awareness and understanding of plant pathology, particularly among high school and undergraduate students, please submit a two-page letter/CV emphasizing your experience and interest to Monica Elliott (email@example.com), OPRO Director, by September 1, 2015. The OPRO board meets in person twice a year and several times throughout the year via teleconference.
