Thank you donors, sponsors, volunteers and bidders! With your help, over $2,500 was raised during the Eighth Annual Silent Auction.
The money was raised to fund the Global Experience Program, aimed at helping APS plant pathologists work with scientists and extension personnel in developing countries in training and outreach efforts. In 2009, the first awards were given to support two workshops, “A workshop in Bolivia on statistics in plant disease epidemiology and agriculture” and “Plant parasitic nematode identification workshop,” held in Guatemala.
We saw a great turnout at this year's auction. A bidding war broke out over Norman Borlaug's signed and annotated copy of Principles of Plant Pathology by Stakman and Harrar. We had 80 items donated, and several of them had a final price of $100 or more!
