OIP-Managed Scholarship Program for the Third International Conference on Late Blight


The OIP of the APS is happy to announce that it will be managing a travel award program to support participation of eligible candidates in the upcoming Third International Conference on Late Blight to be held in Beijing, China, April 3-6, 2008. Further information on the Conference is available at the GILB web page. The award is open to applicants of developing countries who would clearly benefit from participation in the meeting. Awards will be granted based on quality of abstracts. All awardees must prepare a full paper for the proceedings. The OIP expresses their gratitude to Bayer, ISK and TWAS for their generous contributions to the program.

Award amount: $1500 USD

Donors: Bayer, ISK and TWAS (The Academy of Science for the Developing World)

Application and selection procedure: Applicants must acknowledge their need for financial support when they pre-register on the Conference web page and must pre-register and have their abstract submitted by January 31, 2008. All applicants must also send in a short CV and a cover letter of 1 or 2 pages explaining how participation in the conference would benefit their work. CVs, cover letters and abstracts can be sent to m.huanes@cgiar.org.

Eligibility: Candidates must be citizens of a developing country and must be engaged in research or development activities in a developing country related to management of late blight on potato or tomato.
