The Dow AgroSciences Travel Award was established in 2011 to facilitate student travel to the APS Annual Meeting so students working on commercial disease management solutions have an opportunity to present findings from their studies and interact with plant pathologists from around the world.
Dow AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, began in 1989 as DowElanco, a joint venture between the plant sciences businesses of The Dow Chemical Company and Eli Lilly and Company. In 1997, DowElanco was renamed Dow AgroSciences when Dow acquired 100 percent ownership of the business from Lilly.
Dow AgroSciences' products and services are designed to solve pressing crop production problems for their customers; boosting agriculture productivity to maximum sustainable levels to keep pace with the growing needs of the world's rapidly expanding population. Their research focuses on game-changing technologies to provide better crops, better plant nutrition, and better control of destructive crop and non-crop disease, weed, and insect pests.
The goal of their research efforts is to be the fastest, best, and most efficient, most productive, and most viable research-based agriculture company, long term, because the world's future depends upon sound pest management solutions and crop production technology.
