U.S. Department of the Treasury License

In addition to a tourist visa, in order to travel to Cuba and spend money there, U.S. citizens must travel under a license issued by the the U.S. Department of the Treasury. If you are planning to attend the APS-CD meeting in Cuba you must download the Department of Treasury License document available at the links below, type the name of the person traveling in the space where it says “Type Your Name Here,” print it, and take it with you. If at any time you are questioned by U.S. authorities, show the document with the number of the license and explain that you were in Cuba attending the scientific meetings of the American Phytopathological Society - Caribbean Division.  An important requirement is that you also send a message to the Agricultural Research and Extension Center at Weslaco indicating that you traveled to Cuba under this license. The U.S. Department of the Treasury requires that records of those who traveled to Cuba under this license be kept for five years.
