Graduate Student Competition:
Evaluation Criteria
Total time available for each contributed paper
presentation is 15 minutes. Speakers have a maximum of 12 minutes for
their presentation. The remaining time should be reserved for
questions.
Criteria upon which the paper will be judged
(10% for each item listed):
- Abstract: organization, clarity,
and completeness
- Content
- Introduction and objectives
(not stated, stated, excellent)
- Procedures and experimental design
(inappropriate, appropriate, innovative)
- Quality and quantitiy of data (poor,
adequate, excellent)
- Conclusion(s) (not stated, illogical,
logical, excellent)
- Delivery
- Organization (poor, fair, good,
excellent)
- Visuals, quantity and quality (poor, too
few/many, adequate, good, excellent)
- Oral presentation (poor, average,
excellent)
- Response to questions (ambiguous;
appropriate; specific, clear, and concise)
- Creativity (mundane, safe, innovative,
high-risk) and scientific impact (low, moderate, high)
