Last update: January 28, 2000 Candidate for Vice-President, 2000-01 Anton Baudoin Anton Baudoin is an associate professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, Physiology and Weed Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in, with a major teaching appointment. He was born in the Netherlands, and earned his M.Sc. degree at the Agricultural University, Wageningen, and his Ph.D. degree at the University of California, Riverside, before joining Virginia Tech in 1981. He has taught seven undergraduate and graduate courses: Pest Management: Insect, Diseases and Weeds; Plant Pathology; Integrated Pest Management; Principles of Plant Disease Management, Diseases of Crop Plants, Epidemiology of Plant Diseases, and Principles of Biology. To complement the diverse areas of his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Baudoin has carried out research in several areas, including postharvest pathology, weed pathogens for biological control, and management of grape diseases. He has been ac-ive in the Potomac Division as local arrangements chair (1995) and secretary-treasurer for the past 3 years. His campaign encourages a large write-in vote for opposing candidates.
Candidate for Secretary-Treasurer, 2000-03 James Kotcon James Kotcon is a Nematologist and Associate Professor of Plant Pathology at West Virginia University. He obtained a Master of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1979 and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1983. Research interests include pesticide impact assessment, biological pest control, ecology of soilborne diseases, nematode population dynamics, fruit and vegetable diseases, and integrated pest management. Teaching responsibilities include introductory plant science, environ-mental impact assessment, plant nematology, and disease epidemiology and control. Dr. Kotcon has been a member of the American Phytopathological Society since 1978 and has served on the Nematol-ogy and Environmental Quality Committees. He has been a member of the Potomac Division since 1985. |
