Abstracts are not printed as a supplement to Phytopathology and will not appear in printed form at the meeting. Searchable abstracts will be available online before the meeting and abstract printing stations will be available at the meeting.
If you are from a country outside the United States, a valid passport or visa was needed to attend the meeting. Plan accordingly as visas can take up to three months to obtain. Note: U.S. legislation requires foreign nationals to provide to air carriers a valid U.S. address during their stay prior to departure of their U.S.-bound flight. Most airlines require a passport number, as well as a valid U.S. address for the passengers stay, at the time of booking.
APS student members giving oral or poster presentations are eleigible to apply to receive $500 to support their travel to the 2012 APS Annual Meeting. However, students who received an award in 2011 will not be eligible for an award until 2013. The APS Foundation accepts applications through March 21, 2012. The APS Foundation, in cooperation with the Office of International Programs, offers an International Travel Award to support travel costs for early- to mid-career APS members native to and working in developing countries who otherwise would not be able to participate. The average temperature in Providence, Rhode Island in August is 81F/27C, with a low of 63F/17C in the evening. Be sure to dress appropriately for both the indoors and outdoors and don't forget a light jacket or sweater.
