Be sure to take advantage of all the networking opportunities offered at this year's annual meeting. For your convenience, all networking events are listed here and in the daily schedule. Please note that Alumni Socials will be held during the Opening Reception or on an individual basis. Please check your program book for times and listings.

University of Wisconsin at Madison
No organized tour to Madison is planned. However, the Plant Pathology Department at Madison is providing shuttle service twice daily (morning and late afternoon) in both directions between the UW-Madison and the Convention Center. First Timers Orientation, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
All first-time meeting attendees are welcome to join us in discovering how to take advantage of the wealth of meeting activities offered at an annual meeting. You are encouraged to bring questions. Be sure to check box #3 on the registration form if this is your first meeting, so that we can plan on your attendance.

Vegetable Extension and Research Plant Pathologists Breakfast, 6:30 - 8:00 a.m.
The goal of this annual event, sponsored by the vegetable seed industry, is to promote the sharing of ideas on seed health and to expound on the phytosanitary needs of the vegetable seed industry. This year's program will feature Dr. Ron Gitaitis who will be speaking on "The Epidemiology of Emerging Bacterial Diseases of Onion," and Dr. Don Hopkins, who will present "Recent Research on Bacterial Fruit Blotch Caused by Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli." Opening Reception, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Monday, July 29

APS Foundation Day
Join your colleagues to ensure the healthy future of plant pathology through the efforts of the APS Foundation. All individuals who donate to the Foundation during the meeting will receive a free gift. The Foundation booth will be located next to registration. Donations made through noon on Tuesday, July 30, will qualify the donor for drawing a prize at the time of donation. The goal for 2002 is $20,000 in new donations. Prizes will include APS compendia, books, T-shirts and other donated items. Join in the fun and help support the science and profession of plant pathology.

Extension Plant Pathologists Breakfast, 6:30 - 8:00 a.m.
Be sure to register for this annual breakfast gathering of your fellow Extension professionals. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, catch up with old friends, make new ones and contribute to the exchange of ideas. Event is open to all. Tickets are $18 and include breakfast. See #7 on the registration form.

Graduate Student Breakfast, 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.
Each year the Industry Committee sponsors a continental breakfast for graduate students. This provides an excellent opportunity for graduate students to visit with representatives from many companies and explore the variety of job opportunities available in the industry. See #8 on the registration form to confirm your attendance.

deBary Bowl, 3:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Based on the l960's television program, College Bowl, the deBary Bowl is an annual competition in which division teams debate issues in phytopathology. It begins with preliminary rounds mid-afternoon and concludes with final rounds in the evening during "social hour." Don't miss this often-hilarious "competitive" event! Prizes are awarded to first and second place teams.

Women in Plant Pathology Social, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Don't miss out on this engaging annual social activity. This event is open to all annual meeting attendees. Come and discuss the latest issues in plant pathology. Tickets are $20, Student/Post-doc $10. Hors d'oeuvres and beverage included. See #10 on the registration form.

Breakfast and Business Meeting, 7:00 - 9:00 a.m.
Be sure to register for this important breakfast meeting updating the membership on the latest APS developments and to learn how APS leadership is working on your behalf. Breakfast will be served from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Once again tables will be pre-assigned Table Topics, which are open for discussion during breakfast, or sit at a non-topic table to meet new friends. Members who have generously given support to APS activities will be acknowledged. If you would like to facilitate a table topic, please mark the appropriate place on the registration form. Cultural Diversity Luncheon and Social, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.
At this session we welcome undergraduate students who are members of Minorities in Agriculture and Natural Resources and Related Sciences as well as APS members who represent the Societies' cultural diversity to learn more about plant pathology as a career. Topics to be covered will include an overview of the types of jobs plant pathologists hold, where to look and how apply for graduate school, as well as some personal stories from members that focus on the paths that prepared them for their careers.

Industry Extension Social, 6:30 - 10:30 p.m.
The magical Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) will serve as host for this popular yearly event. Feast on fabulous international food stations throughout the museum, enjoy a thrilling IMAX film on Mexico's Ocean Oasis, wander through a myriad of world-class exhibits featuring a Costa Rican rain forest, a live butterfly exhibit, visit Africa, Asia, Europe, the Arctic, South and Middle America, or the Pacific Islands. MPM's total habitat dioramas, first created in 1890, set the standard for museum exhibits across the country. Join your colleagues for a relaxing and fun evening.
