This is what brought SON, MSA and APS together. They realized the power of combining efforts. The societies are extremely pleased to announce that they will present an exciting joint meeting on August 25-29, 2001, in Salt Lake, with the appropriate theme, “Intersociety Cooperation and Collaborations.” Technical Excellence: There will be numerous opportunities for you to develop professionally, increase your awareness, build your knowledge, and maximize networking. This event is a great way to end your summer and should provide unlimited possibilities for exchanging ideas and information. The program committee and leaders are planning to deliver the latest information and technology on plant pathology, mycology and nematology through high-quality technical sessions, hands-on workshops, and a variety of discussions. Who We Are The American Phytopathological Society, founded in 1908, is an international scientific organization advancing modern concepts in plant health management in agricultural, urban, and forest settings. Its 5,000 members, located in 80 countries, represent a broad cross section of the scientific community, including research scientists, teachers, extension professionals, students, sales representatives, private consultants, administrators, technicians, agricultural field representatives, and pest management personnel. The common goal of APS members is to promote knowledge of plant diseases and their control through publications, meetings, symposia, workshops, and special activities. The Mycological Society of America, founded in 1932, is an international scientific society dedicated to the study and the promotion of mycology throughout the world. The society has 1,300 active members in 47 countries. Mycologists serve in academia, industry, government, and the private sector where they work in a wide range of areas impacted by fungi. A web of interconnected roles that fungi play range from mycorrhizae, symbionts of lichens, and decomposers to pathogens of plants, insects, and animals, including man. The Society of Nematologists, founded in 1961, is an international organization formed to advance the science of nematology in both its fundamental and economic aspects. To serve the purpose, the Society of Nematologists, which consists of 675 members in 60 countries, acts as an agency for the exchange of information, holds regular meetings, and promotes and extends knowledge in all phases of nematology. The society has endeavored to meet the needs of individuals in academic institutions, research, government agencies, and industry for over 40 years and will continue in this pursuit. The society operates on a nonprofit basis exclusively for the accomplishment of these educational and scientific goals.
