GENERAL
INFORMATION
Registration Procedures
The deadline for Advance Registration
is June 21, 2001. By registering in advance you save on your
registration fee.
Plus, materials will be ready for you when you arrive
at the meeting.
Take advantage of the Meeting Plus
Membership option if you have never been a member of APS, MSA or SON. We
also offer this to students. It’s your chance to learn what being an
APS, MSA or SON member is all about. Note that this offer is not for
current or past members of any of the societies.
Your registration fee entitles you to
attend all sessions, the Opening Reception, and one of two breakfasts
(either the MSA Breakfast and Business Meeting on Monday or the APS
Breakfast and Business Meeting on Tuesday). Fees cover meeting
facilities, materials, and meeting management.
Mail or fax your registration form.
Faxed forms must include credit card information in order to be
processed. Unfortunately, no telephone registrations can be taken.

Cancellation/Refund Policy
• Meeting registration
cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked or faxed to APS
headquarters no later than August 10, 2001. These cancellations are
subject to a $50 processing fee. Cancellations after August 10 are not
subject to refund.
• No refunds for ticketed events
will be made after June 21, 2001.
International Participants
If you are from a country other than
the United States, you need a valid passport or visa and should apply at
the embassy, consulate, or mission in your country prior to departure.

To Serve You Better
We use a ticket system so that we can
better anticipate the number of people attending events, including those
that are free. If you do not check an event on the registration form, we
assume you will not attend. Thanks for making sure you have checked all
events to which you want to go!
Transportation
Downtown Salt Lake is located 7 miles
(15-20 minutes) from the airport. This meeting’s exclusive shuttle
service is the Express Shuttle, which is available for $6 per person,
one way. Your hotels also offer independent shuttles (Hilton, Marriott
and Wyndham shuttles are $13 round trip or $7 each way; Shilo Inn has
free airport shuttle). Taxis are available for $14 one way for up to 4
persons.
Abstract book
A joint abstract book will be provided to
each registrant with their badge. APS abstracts were also published
as a supplement to the June 2001 issue of Phytopathology. MSA
abstracts were also published in the May issue of the Inoculum.
SON abstracts will also be published in the December issue of the Journal
of Nematology.

Awards & Honors
The APS Awards & Honors ceremony begins
at 6 pm on Sunday in Ballrooms E-H, with the Grand Reception
immediately following in Ballrooms A-D. All registered attendees are
invited.
The SON Mentor Awards Ceremony begins at
5:30 pm on Tuesday in Room 251E. A reception and banquet follows in
Room 151G at 6:30 pm.
Business Meetings
There will be important updates about the
business and issues of each society at the business meetings:
- MSA, Monday, August 27, 7 - 8:30 am
- APS, Tuesday, August 28, 7:45 - 9:30 am
- SON, Tuesday, August 28, 4 - 5:30 pm
Concessions
Food and beverage will be available in the
Concessions area in back of Hall A on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An Espresso
and Deli will also be open in the Salt Palace Main Lobby beginning
at 7 a.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Specialty coffees, fruit, juices, water, muffins, and danish are
available there.
deBary Bowl
Get together with your colleagues at the 9th
annual deBary Bowl on Monday in Room 254BC. Preliminary rounds begin
at 3:30 pm and final rounds start at 7:30 pm. Based on television’s
College Bowl, this team competition will be exciting.

Medical Care
Medical staff are available daily at the
Salt Palace during meeting hours.
For emergencies outside of the Salt Palace,
dial 911.
For non-emergency needs, call
1-877-244-7362. House Calls USA can provide telephone consultations
or will send a locally established physician directly to your hotel
room to give you quality care. A telephone conference costs $50.
House calls or hotel visits range between $150-250. Medications, if
dispensed, are additional. These fees are covered by most insurance
plans. This charge is usually lower than an emergency room charge.
Translation service is available. Arrival after time of call is
usually 35-60 minutes. Credit cards, travelers checks, personal
checks and cash are accepted.
Member Services
APS members and nonmembers are invited to
stop by Member Services in the registration area to learn about APS
member benefits.
MSA members are invited to stop by the
Member Services booth in the exhibit area to learn about member
benefits.
SON members are invited to stop by Member
Services in the Registration area to learn about member benefits.
Placement Service
The APS Placement Service is open to all
meeting attendees. Registration opens Saturday
at 12 p.m. The Placement Service, in Room 253A, is open Sunday, 2 -
5 pm; Monday and Tuesday, 9 am - 12 pm and 2 - 5 pm; and Wednesday,
9 am - 2 pm.
Posters
Join your colleagues for some creative
discussions in the poster area.
APS acknowledges that the number of sessions
do not allow for non-conflicting times for posters and exhibit
viewing. Please take advantage of the following times to view
posters and exhibits with minimal conflict from other sessions.

Publishers’ Book Display
Publishers from around the world feature
their publications at this meeting. This display is a great
opportunity to browse through the latest books, journals and
electronic publications on plant science. The Publishers’ Book
Display is open during exhibit hours.

Social and Special Events
Social activities, breakfast and luncheon
meetings, and special events are listed in the daily
schedule.
There are no ticket refunds after June 21,
but a ticket exchange board is available in the registration area
for members wishing to exchange tickets among themselves.
