APS Centennial 2008

History of Excellence  Future of Promise

The American Phytopathological Society is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2008. We have gathered the relevant, historical, and truly unique aspects of plant pathology together for the Centennial celebration. We hope to provide members not only a retrospective look back, but also a look at the way forward. Several groups have worked on various activities to make this a truly special occasion. The centennial is a celebration by and for all APS members.

Last Chance to Become a Centennial Member! Become a Centennial Member by December 31, 2008 and save $25 on membership dues ($10 on student member dues). The first 100 members who join between now and December 31 will receive a special Centennial Messenger bag! Note: This offer is only for current nonmembers or APS members who have lapsed for 12 months or more.

The Centennial Celebration was held July 27-30 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A photo journal of this momentous occasion was created.

As part of the Centennial Celebration, a timeline of major discoveries, pioneers, epidemics, and historic events in the evolution of APS was developed.

The book "Memborable Milesones - The American Phytopathological Centennial Collection" was written for the Centennial, including a 100-year history of APS, the APS Centennial Oral History Project, and APS Member Tributes.
