Pennsylvania State University and Oregon State University A postdoctoral position is open to work with an interdisciplinary and multi-institutional project that is exploring novel strategies to engineer fungal and oomycete resistance into crop plants including Theobroma cacao and soybean. The appointee will conduct research to create candidate disease resistance genes and test these in transient and transgenic cells/plants for activity against a number of different oomycete and fungal pathogens. The successful candidate will work for one year at Penn State University, University Park, PA under the advisorship of Drs. Mark Guiltinan and Siela Maximova and for the second year will conduct additional research at Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR with Dr. Brett Tyler. The position will be renewed on a yearly basis but is funded for at least two years. Experience in molecular biology required. Experience in plant, fungal or oomycete molecular biology, cell biology, plant pathogen interactions and gene expression analysis is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree completed by the start date.
