Plant Diseases caused by Bacteria: An Image Database and Educational Resource CD is the most comprehensive assembly of bacterial disease photographs presenting different stages of disease development. The image database contains 1006 images of plants affected with bacteria diseases that may be browsed or searched by host common or scientific name, disease name, pathogen, pathogen synonym, general symptom, or keyword. The CD includes detailed pictures with a range of symptom types caused by bacterial diseases, for example: blights, rots, scabs, galls, leaf and stem spots are all covered.
In addition, this CD contains illustrated and detailed narratives on 34 major bacterial diseases and includes important information on various factors of the diseases: mode of transmission, host range, mechanisms of infection, survival, and management. Among the selection of models are some of the world’s most serious diseases.
This resource will be valuable in the classroom for teaching identification and diagnosis of disease symptoms cause by bacteria or as a general education tool for in master gardener and extension programs. Images can be exported into unique collections for specific uses, which allows for use in custom PowerPoint™ presentations and teaching handouts. A preface, glossary, and references are included.
