From the Preface:
This book is the second in a series of reference sources on plant diseases, designed to meet the interests of seed producers and seed-related industries or agencies. Information is provided for all diseases of soybeans caused by fungi, bacteria, mycoplasmas, and viruses against a standard set of items.
Diseases are grouped according to the seedborne and seed transmission aspects of the pathogens. Seedborne implies that the pathogen can be detected on, in, or with the seed. Seed transmitted implies that infected seeds are a means by which the pathogen can be transmitted to the plants grown from the seeds.
The needs for the generalist are met by concise factual statements, and those of the specialist are met by related these statements to references that will provide a guide to the relevant literature.
