Nominations and Appointments
The President will solicit and receive suggested nominees for offers of Council and other key entities from a Nominations Committee. Any APS member may also suggest nominees or self-nominate for consideration by Council. The President will present nominee(s) for each office to the Council for consideration. Council then chooses by majority vote a sucessful nominee, who is notified by the President.
Nominees for society offices should be selected early during the final year of service of the outgoing officer to allow orderly transfer of responsibilities. It may be desirable for certain officers-elect of Council, such as the Treasurer or ICO to "shadow" their predecessor for up to one year before assuming office.
The president, with assistance of Council, will insure that newly appointed officers are informed of their duties. The term of each office is three years. Individuals shall not serve more than two terms consecutively. Present members of Council normally will not be appointed to any position that would begin prior to the end of their current term. All nominees must be members of APS.
